A regular director should tell a whole story.

A good director should tell a whole and compelling story.

A perfect director should tell a whole and compelling story, meanwhile, he/she could input his/her deep thinking and influence the audiences.

If a director would shoot a movie only for output his/her personal points of view, and cannot tell a whole story, I don't think he/she is regular.

A competent director should narrate a complete story.
An excellent director should narrate a complete and captivating story.
A flawless director should narrate a complete and captivating story, while also expressing his/her profound insights and impacting the viewers.
If a director makes a movie only to convey his/her personal opinions, and fails to narrate a complete story, I don’t think he/she is competent.
